The role

We're excited to offer a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Trucking Manager to grow Den Hartogh's trucking operations in Spain. Based at our Granollers (Barcelona) site, you'll play a role within the Spanish leadership team, while maintaining strong connections with our European network of Trucking Managers. Your primary goals will involve expanding trucking operations in Spain and build the trucking team, which will ultimately consist of 1 office employee and 12 drivers. Throughout this process, you'll collaborate closely with local management and our wider European trucking network. Safety is a fundamental part of your DNA, and last but certainly not least, we embrace the essence of fun in business.


Your responsibilities:

  • Leading the trucking team in Spain, regular conversations and performance reviews with all drivers;  
  • Actively enforcing and implementing Den Hartogh's safety and quality policies;
  • Coordinating and participating in safety meetings, Trucking Team meetings, Mentor driver meetings, Driver meetings, European Trucking Managers meetings and local operations meetings with our planners;
  • Ensuring optimal utilization of Spanish trucks and meeting agreed-upon hours standards;
  • Organizing internal and external training programs for drivers, including C95, ADR, mentorship guidance and toolbox training.

Job requirements

About you:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a road transport company (A bachelor's degree in logistics or transport would be appreciated);
  • Knowledge of or interest in ADR and other relevant legislation. Technical knowledge is a plus;
  • Strong people management abilities and an entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Proficiency in analytical skills (PowerBI) and the capability to leverage them to achieve desired outcomes;
  • Ability to work independently, a self starter;
  • Willingness to flexible schedules, 24-7 availability for emergencies and travel to various locations (car is included);
  • Fluent (native) in Spanish and proficient English language skills.
